Progress and Purpose: Preparing for Science Week 2025 in Kasese

At Kasese Humanist School, we believe that science is more than just a subject; it is a way of thinking, a tool for empowerment and a path to progress. Thanks to the ongoing support of partners such as Scientific Temper, we are making steady progress towards establishing a learning environment that reflects these values.

Recent Achievements

Over the past months, we have made tangible improvements across our campuses:

• A new kitchen has been constructed for the secondary school section, improving hygiene and meal preparation.
• The administration offices at the Rukoki campus have received a much-needed facelift, including plastering, painting, and a shaded veranda.
• We have expanded our library resources with new books for the children at Rukoki.
• Our tree-planting campaign has intensified, with more trees being planted and nursery beds expanded, transforming our campus into a living classroom for environmental awareness and sustainability.

Ongoing Needs

While we celebrate these milestones, several needs remain:

• Library furniture (shelves, chairs, tables) is urgently needed at our Muhokya and Kahendero campuses.
• Our science laboratories require additional reagents and replacement of broken glassware to ensure safe and effective practical learning.
• We aim to expand boarding facilities for boys at the secondary level.
• Plans are underway to drill a borehole at Rukoki to reduce water costs and ensure reliable access.
• We also hope to add outdoor play equipment for primary students, establish a campus barbershop, and provide first aid supplies, mosquito nets, and hygiene kits for vulnerable children.

Looking Ahead: Science Week 2025

In September, we will be hosting another Science Week, celebrating curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. The event brings together students, teachers and the wider community to explore science through experiments, exhibitions and competitions.
